Does a Conservatory Add Value to a Property?
14 October 2011It's a tough time for homeowners looking to sell their homes. This is leading to many people staying put and adding extra space to their home with a conservatory. But is throwing more money at your property a wise move?
Stephen Dyer, managing director at idealproperty.co.uk says that a conservatory "can add significant value" to a property, provided that the conservatory is well built and constructed to a high standard allowing year round use.
"They should blend in and be part of the main property, not a room that's too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer."
"If they are not thought through properly they can sometimes leave existing rooms without proper function or identity. When you come to sell [your home] you don't want your estate agent struggling to label any of the rooms and spaces in your home," Mr Dyer said.
Indeed, when the time does come to move, a conservatory can make your house all that more appealing and saleable. A DIY conservatory is a cost-effective way to make the most of everything that a conservatory offers you, and any potential buyers.
