DIY Store in Administration

10 May 2011

Be aware if you have purchased or are thinking about purchasing anything for your new DIY conservatory from the home improvement chain Focus. The 175 store retail chain went into administration last week although all stores will remain open until a buyer is found.

Even though stores are remaining open they are no longer delivering. Therefore any customer who has paid for their particular product up front but has not received the goods as yet, will not be receiving delivery. One man has already been affected by this. A few days prior to administration, Glen Horstman purchased some garden furniture for £200. As it was not in stock, he ordered it and paid for it up front and was told to expect delivery in early June. A few days later Focus went into administration and he was told he could not get his money back or have any other goods to the same value. He will now have to wait to see if the administrators Ernst and Young will refund his money.

Ernst and Young have so far sold off 31 stores to Kingfisher who own B & Q. These will become B & Q stores but it is not known at this stage which stores have been sold.
